This 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Vieilles Vignes’ is notable for its bright yellow-gold hue with green highlights. On the nose, it is intense and complex, with intermingling notes of cumin, pear, grilled hazelnuts and white flowers. The attack is oily and peppery and soon accompanied by notes of apple and candied grapefruit. There is a nice tension on the finish with hints of toast and a touch of pear eau de vie.
This wine is best served at 10-12°C and pairs perfectly with white meats in a creamy sauce. Its balance and precision mean that it should develop well in bottles.
